Q: I am currently enrolled in the Master of Interior Design program at the U of MB.  Can I become a Student Member of PIDIM?

A: Yes, you can.  The Master of Interior Design program at the University of Manitoba is a CIDA degree program and the only CIDA program offered in Manitoba that is in-person.  Here is a link to the MID program: https://umanitoba.ca/architecture/department-interior-design

Q: I am a student in the Bachelor of Environmental Design program at the University of Manitoba, can I become a Student Member?

A: Yes, you can.  The only qualification that we ask for, to be a Student Member of PIDIM, is that you are enrolled in a post secondary program related to the practice of Interior Design.  It does not need to be a CIDA program however once you graduate from the program you can only apply to become an Intern Member of PIDIM if you have graduated with a CIDA degree.

Q: What does CIDA degree mean?

A: CIDA or the Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an organization that assesses higher education programs in Interior Design.  CIDA is a non-profit organization that sets standards for interior design programs across North America.  Here is a link to the CIDA website to learn more: https://cida.org/

Q: Do I need a CIDA degree in order to become an Intern or Professional member of PIDIM?

A: Yes, that is one of the qualifications of membership to become an Intern or Professional member of PIDIM, that you have a CIDA degree.

Q: Where can I find more information about other CIDA degree programs in Canada and North America?

Q: Are there other CIDA programs that I can take in Manitoba?

A: Yes, if you are interested in a remote CIDA degree you can look into the Yorkville University remote 4 year Interior Design Degree program and you can find the link to that program on the CIDA website as well (link above).

Q: Is there a fee to be a Student Member of PIDIM?

A: Yes, there is a yearly $25.00 (plus GST) fee to be a Student Member of PIDIM.  And depending when you join in the year - that fee would be prorated.  We then bill everyone in January for the following years membership
